I’ve been making a few portraits over FaceTime for Hoboken Grace throughout the quarantine (or lockdown or the first quarantine period or whatever it will come to be called) and thanks to those that participated, but it’s not the same.
Not the same as being with someone in person. Not the same as seeing the real sunlight. Not the same as looking around for background options and ideas. Not the same as having a little more resolution and detail in the image. Not the same as being with someone, sharing the same space. Even with masks.
These portraits were my first non-documentary photo shoot since February I think. I’d photographed with Angie once, a few years ago. She’s one of very few people I know with a deep joy that seems almost oblivious of circumstances. One of those people that it’s invariably a pleasure to be around. She also has some interesting plans that I hope we’ll get to see more of soon.
