Whether or not you like the idea of street photography, I believe it can be a valuable craft for any photographer to learn. It's also a lot more varied in scope than you might think.
As many of you know, I've been running a small community for New York street photographers called Strt. I still plan to hold occasional meets, but I've decided to stop running it a separate site and brand and instead bring in more street photography content to this site. I plan to keep expanding the content over time but I've made a start and you can take a look on the 'Learn' page here. Even if you think that street photography isn't for you, I hope you'll take a look at some of the amazing street photographers that I've called the Legends. The images by Garry Winogrand might be what comes to mind when you think of street photography, but take a look at Saul Leiter or Fan Ho or William Eggleston for an entirely different approach and vision.
I'm also planning to add a section for newcomers to photography in gereral, taking you through some of the fundamental techniques and terms and pointing you to some of the best free online learning resources available at the moment. Coming soon, as they say.
Hopefully the new sections will provide some useful info and inspiration. Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see included.
